Seriously. Kids say the darndest things…
Mature Conversation 1.
Scene: In the bedroom as I was getting dressed for school in the morning.
Me: Aisyah…who do you think is prettier? Mama, or Hala? (Hala referring to me. It means ‘aunt’ in arabic)
Aisyah: Um…Hala. NO! BOTH! BOTH prettier!
Me: No…must choose one!
Aisyah: No cannot! Must say BOTH.
Me: But why? Why cannot choose one?
Aisyah: *scandalised and horrified look* Noooo! Later Mama don’t make milk for me!
Me: But Mama not here. She won’t know.
Aisyah: *earnestly* NO! Mama knows EVERYTHING! Wan Zainah also knows everything! They can hear!
HAHAHA OMG! I burst out laughing can. Wan Zainah is my mom by the way. So young and knows the concept of Big Brother already. Hahaha so cute!
Mature Conversation 2
Wan Zainah: Aisyah, you must learn Malay. Try a bit.
Aisyah: Dooowwwaannn…
Wan Zainah: You must! Malay is your Mother Tongue!
Aisyah: *pause* But I want my OWN tongue.
HAHAHA!
Aisyah will always make me laugh. She’s just so cute! And I was happy because I was able to find her heartshaped lollipops at Parkway the other day! She was asking for them…no idea why, but she wanted specifically pink heartshaped lollipops. Got them and she was happy! Yay! Talk about being spoilt eh? But Aisyah is a good kid…and totally bribable. Hehe.
And it got me thinking. We’d do anything for the ones we love. Just so to see them happy and make them smile. It may be stupid. They may not appreciate it. You probably sacrificed more that you or they knew. But hey, we’re only human and this is what we do.
Be it making that extra trip.
Or spending that extra dollar.
Waiting that extra hour.
Or giving that extra gift.
Adding the extra chocolate to the cookie batter.
Or making that extra time in a busy day to say hey.
Or anything really…
It’s the little things, and the big things.
Can you imagine what your parents have done and sacrificed to make us happy? The same way my sister and her hubby have done to make their daughter happy too. And all her grandparents, aunts and uncles. Have you said your thanks to the ones that matter most? Before it’s too late.
There a hell lot of things about love that I don’t know, and don’t get. But this kinda love I do understand.
It’s all in the heartshaped lollipops.

wee is weird too. an “e” away from we. hee.
