Early mid-sem break brought me to a pretty little kelong off the coast of Johor called Pasir Gogok, somewhere near Penggerang. It was a studio trip as a primer for our next project (yes, we have another big project coming up!) but err..doubt we did much study. haha We did get a good feel of the place and the lives of fishermen though…
So it ain’t your five star hotel, what with its basic (and we mean really…raw…basic amenities) but I think it’s perfect. We spent practically the entire day and night fishing! I had the best fishing rod (according to Sei Hwa! haha) but I didn’t get to catch anything. Boo. I knew I should have bought artificial lures! Sotong ain’t enough! Haha Losted two lines by getting them stuck on some net or other. It’s such a chore to make a new one. Fishing is fun though…when you catch something. On the other hand, Zichao was like super-fisherman or something! Yup, that is his foot! haha
And it was just so peaceful…sitting there, fishing rod in hand, looking out into the sea and feeling the cool breeze against your skin. I mean, it seemed like a good time to contemplate over life or whatever…and I felt like I needed that kind of deep thinking over my life.
So I did. Or at least I tried…
Sitting there, I just didn’t know where the hell to start! I couldn’t focus on one thing. In case you haven’t known already, my mind goes on a hamster wheel speed but with nine thousand and nine thoughts per minute or something.
I then really wonder, how the heck do people contemplate? Or soul-search? Many a time I’ve heard people, friends, acquaintances who claim to do that (some even in one night). Really?
I think for me to really sit down and soul search or contemplate, requires a pen…and stacks of paper.
And one day I need to do just that.
Oh. But the nice thing was that as I sat there, the song If by Bread played on my shuffle and it was just PERFECT in that kind of setting. Mellow, oh so mellow. And I love it how the morning sun just toasts you up after a chilly night. It feels heavenly.
Basically it was a great trip with great company. So if you feel like a quick getaway, I’d strongly recommend the kelong. Problem is they accept groups of minimum 12 people. But it’s good.
And Shafi’! Thanks for the fishing gear! Now when can I pass them back to you plus all your CDs? haha

Hi …..I am looking for the contact to this Kelong. Do you happen to have it. Thanks !
I’m sorry. I don’t have the contact at the moment. It was a school trip. If I do manage to get it, however, I’ll pass it on to you. =)
